Why are we not utilizing this?
Alaska holds enough recoverable natural gas trapped in ice to heat more than 100m homes for 10 years, according to the first government assessment of a resource expected to become increasingly important as the world outlook for oil supplies dims.
The US Geological Survey found that the US state holds 85,400bn cubic feet of natural gas recoverable with today’s technology. As the industry continues to invent new technologies to access further natural gas hydrates, that number could rise significantly.
