AS REPORTED AT LENGTH in THE WEEKLY STANDARD--the latest commentary appeared here on September 16, 2007--federal, state, county, and city prison officials have wrestled since the horror of 9/11 with the presence of radical Muslim chaplains in our country's correctional systems. To the shock of most Americans, when they hear about it, missionaries of the ultrafundamentalist Wahhabi sect, financed by Saudi Arabia and supporting terrorism, have a monopoly on Muslim chaplaincies behind bars. Similar patterns of "authorized" prison infiltration by Islamists are visible in Britain, Russia, and other countries.
The U.S. Justice Department and related authorities are disinclined to take serious action about this problem, even though a jail is the last place Muslim radical recruiters should be allowed free access, much less employment under the pretext of religious services and counseling to inmates. As thoroughly established in the public record, Saudi-subsidized and Wahhabi-trained chaplains preach extremism, including contempt for Western law, to convicts. This contrasts rather obviously with the presumed role of prison chaplains in seeking rehabilitation of lawbreakers.
Moderate Muslim groups have collected stacks of letters from disgruntled prisoners describing sermons in favor of al Qaeda, discrimination and threats against dissident Muslims, confiscation of anti-radical Muslim literature, and similar abuse by Islamist chaplains in prisons. In the absence of relief from penal authorities, however, Muslim victims of radical Islam in America's jailhouses have been compelled to file legal complaints that, until a few weeks ago, were routinely dismissed.
The main such case has involved a small group of Shia Muslims in the New York prisons, who demand separate religious services, away from Wahhabi control and incitement of anti-Shia hatred by the chaplains. The Shias allege government violation of their rights to equal use of public facilities, as well as pro-Wahhabi favoritism, which is presumably illegal under the First Amendment. In 2006, the Shia prisoners' suit against the state of New York, entered in federal court, was thrown out--not for the first time.
Reinstatement of the complaint by the Shia prisoners against the Wahhabi chaplains in New York is not only commendable, it is of great significance for the security of our country. While some observers may try to turn the New York controversy into a parallel of Sunni-Shia conflict in Iraq, that is only a dramatic detail, not the essence of the case. The real issue is the power of radical Muslim chaplains and the discrimination against non-Wahhabis they exercise with impunity. Unfortunately, the state of New York has established Wahhabism as "official Islam" for convicts. Positive resolution of the issue means more than guaranteeing the rights of Shia Muslims who are doing time--it requires that radical chaplains be driven out of American prisons.
A Washington, D.C., imam states explicitly on the website for his organization that he is part of a movement working toward replacement of the U.S. government with "the Islamic State of North America" by 2050.
With branches in Oakland, Los Angeles, San Diego, Sacramento and Philadelphia, the group As-Sabiqun – or the Vanguard – is under the leadership of Abdul Alim Musa in the nation's capital.
Musa's declaration of his intention to help lead a takeover of America was highlighted by noted Islam observer Robert Spencer on his website Jihad Watch.
Spencer told WND that figures such as Musa should not be ignored, "Not because they have the power to succeed, but because they may commit acts of violence to achieve their purpose."
Musa's website declares: "Those who engage in this great effort require a high level of commitment and determination. We are sending out a call to the believers: Join with us in this great struggle to change the world!"
Musa launched the group in the early 1990s at the Al-Islam mosque in Philadelphia. His group says it is influenced by the writings and life work of Muslim thinkers and leaders such as Muslim Brotherhood founder Hasan al-Banna, Sayyid Qutb and Iranian revolutionary Ayatollah Khomenei.
The writings of Al-Banna and Qutb figured prominently in al-Qaida's formation.

Musa's organization says its leadership "has delivered numerous speeches in the United States and abroad, contributing their analyses and efforts to solve contemporary problems in the Muslim world and in urban America."
CAIRO (Reuters) - Egyptian police detained the spokesman of a Christian rights organisation and one of his colleagues on Saturday, the organisation's president said.
Police before dawn broke into the Cairo homes of Wagih Yakob, 45, spokesman for the Middle East Christian Association, and another member of the group, detaining both, said Nader Fawzy, president of the Toronto, Canada-based group.
"They haven't done anything at all," Fawzy said. "The government is trying to stop us from working in Egypt."
Police confiscated the computers and mobile phones of the two men, said Fawzy, whose organisation has a mission statement calling for secularism, and equality and full citizenship for Christians living in the Middle East.
A spokesman for Egypt's Interior Ministry said he had no information about the detentions.
Police detained two other members of the group in August who had helped a man who converted from Islam to Christianity. Both had been released from prison earlier this week, Fawzy said.
Christians account for up to 10 percent of Egypt's population, which is majority Muslim.
Egyptian Christian groups have complained about an increase in arrests and harassment in recent months. A U.S. government report in September said Egypt had seen a marked decline in religious freedom and while Egypt's constitution provided for freedom of belief, the government restricted those rights.

Though the discredited CAIR organized this mosque visit, claiming it was designed merely to “provide an insight to Pennsylvania students about their neighbors' faith traditions," this is clearly Islamic da'wa, an effort to convert students to Islam.
This event is extremely troubling from a number of perspectives; FIE has direct and fundamental ties to the Saudi Wahhabist religious establishment, the most extreme form of Islam, from which bin-Laden emerged. FIE has a long history of hosting radical Muslim speakers, even calling its events "jihad camps" pre September 11. CAIR's deep involvement itself is in itself highly problematic.
CAIR's tainting influence looms menacingly over this event which was designed as a not very thinly disguised effort to recruit students into the Islamic faith. As such, this "mosque visit" is completely inappropriate in any public school setting and should therefore not go forward.

Al-Muhajiroun, an extreme radical Islamic movement that openly supports al Qaeda and Osama Bin Laden will open an office in Copenhagen in the next few weeks.
"We have already been in Denmark for long, but in the coming three weeks we'll make that official," says Sheik Omar Bakri Muhammed, the movement's founder, who was also involved in starting Hizb-ut-Tahrir.
Al-Muhajiroun aims to overthrow Danish democracy and replace it with an Islamic state with Islamic laws.
"Hizb ut-Tahrir doesn't think like us on a revolution of society and on a political struggle against the Danish government. While they are more moderate, we are more orthodox," declares Sheik Omar Bakri Muhammed.
He says that he new movement currently has about 50 members and that 7-8 of them have defected from Hizb ut-Tahrir.
"We support la Qaeda's cause, but have no links or communication with them, and don't support them economically - they themselves have enough money," says Sheik Omar Bakri Muhammed.
There are chapters of Al-Muhajiroun in 21 countries including South-Africa, Great Britain, USA, Kuwait and Syria, claims Omar Bakri Muhammed.

"Student-People Movement to Pursue Samarra Disaster" staged a protest rally in front of UN Office in Tehran Friday evening.
The protestors whose number was estimated to be around 3,000 by IRNA Political Desk reporter, were carrying placards some of which read, "Plotters of Samarra Disaster Were unmasked", "Samarra Dossier left Unheeded Intentionally, or Unintentionally in Practice", "Days Pass, But Shi'a Governments Remain Indifferent", "Still no Trace of Culprits of Samarra Disaster after Such a Long Time", and "The Occupiers Showed the Green Light for Attacks against Samarra Shrines." Those were the placards written in Persian language, while the ones prepared in English read, "Pseudo-Muslim Terrorists, Servants for Western Launched Islamophobia", Destruction of Mosques Even with Islamic Masks Aimed at Destruction of Islam", and "Mass Killing of Muslims Ordered by the West." There was also an Arabic placard, depicted from a holy Qur'anic verse, "They intend to extinguish Allah's Light by blowing of their Mouths; while Allah would complete His Light despite disbelievers' dislike." The protesters who considered the US-led occupation forces in Iraq, particularly the Americans, as the real plotters of the anti-Islamic plot in Samarra, also chanted the Down with USA slogan very often.
In their closing communique, read for the protesters, the organizers of the rally asked the UN to do its best to avoid the recurrence of such nasty anti-Islamic disasters again, and to see into safeguarding the sanctity of the entire religious sites throughout the world, not letting the political powers to play with the sentiments of the believers.
Among the protesters there were a number of clergies, and Iranian and foreign reporters were present at the site.
The FBI is warning that al Qaeda may be preparing a series of holiday attacks on U.S. shopping malls in Los Angeles and Chicago, according to an intelligence report distributed to law enforcement authorities across the country this morning.
The alert said al Qaeda "hoped to disrupt the U.S. economy and has been planning the attack for the past two years."
Law enforcement officials tell ABCNews.com that the FBI received the information in late September and declassified it yesterday for wide distribution.
The alert, like similar FBI and Department of Homeland Security terror alerts issued over the past five years at holiday times, raised questions about the credibility of the information.
The bulletin acknowledges that U.S. intelligence officers are uncertain as to whether the information is real, and intelligence officers say there is a concern that it could be "disinformation."
Law enforcement officials at three different agencies told ABCNews.com the FBI alert was based on a source who has proved reliable in the past.
The source reportedly had only "indirect access" to al Qaeda and word of the actual threat came to U.S. intelligence officers "through a lengthy chain" of contacts.
With the shopping season approaching, however, the FBI officials decided it was necessary to share the information.
For the past few years, jihadist chat rooms have regularly posted comments from anonymous individuals who have suggested or boasted about similar plans to attack such soft targets as shopping malls.
"Out of abundance of caution, and for any number of other reasons, raw intelligence is regularly shared within the intelligence and law enforcement communities -- even when the value of the information is unknown," said Special Agent Richard Kolko. "In the post-9/11 era, sharing information is our top priority. Al-Qa'ida messaging has clearly stated they intend to attack the U.S. or its interests; however, there is no information to state this is a credible threat. As always, we remind people to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to authorities."

KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) - Influential Malaysian Muslim women demanded on Friday a budget airline to swap its flight attendants' miniskirts for less revealing, more Islamic attire in keeping with the multi-faith country's dominant religion.
Female delegates of the United Malays National Organization (UMNO), during a debate on Islam at the final day of its week-long annual meeting, zeroed in on AirAsia's stewardesses, saying their skirts should go down to the ankles.
The 3.3-million-strong UMNO represents the country's dominant ethnic Malays, who are by definition Muslim. UMNO is increasingly pushing an Islamic agenda to counter the opposition Parti Islam se-Malaysia (PAS) in the country's Malay heartland.
"The uniform is too revealing. We don't want to look at their thigh and knee," said Zaleha Hussin, an elderly woman delegate from the northeastern state of Kelantan.
"Malaysia is an Islamic nation and we are ashamed of the AirAsia uniform," she told the meeting.
Male delegates also supported the change of dress code. "It should be implemented by explaining that we are a Muslim country," said Azman Ruslan, a lawyer.
AirAsia is one of Asia's fastest-growing budget carriers and its crew is made up of various races, including Malay Muslims who form just over half of Malaysia's 26 million people.
A two-year counterterrorism and drug investigation culminated earlier this week with the arrest of a dozen individuals in Los Angeles. Authorities reportedly seized 30 kilograms of cocaine and counterfeit merchandise valued at hundreds of thousands of dollars. According to the LA Times, at least one of the suspects is tied to Hezbollah and was referenced - though not by name - in 2005 congressional testimony by an official with the LA County Sheriff’s Department.
I testified at that hearing as well. As I noted then, Hezbollah depends on a wide variety of criminal enterprises, ranging from smuggling to fraud to drug trade to diamond trade in regions across the world, including North America, South America, and the Middle East, to raise money to support Hezbollah activities.
In the United States, law enforcement officials are investigating a variety of criminal enterprises suspected of funding Middle Eastern terrorist groups, including the stealing and reselling of baby formula, food stamp fraud, and scams involving grocery coupons, welfare claims, credit cards, and even unlicensed t-shirts sales. U.S. officials believe "a substantial portion" of the estimated millions of dollars raised by Middle Eastern terrorist groups comes from the $20 million to $30 million annually brought in by the illicit scam industry in America. A senior U.S. law enforcement official concluded, "There is a significant amount of money moved out of the United States attributed to fraud that goes to terrorism."
Hezbollah and other terrorist groups also traffic narcotics in North America to fund their activities back in the Middle East. A Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) investigation into a pseudoephedrine smuggling scam in the American Midwest led investigators as far as Jordan, Yemen, Lebanon, and other Middle Eastern countries, including bank accounts tied to Hezbollah and Hamas. DEA chief Asa Hutchinson confirmed, "a significant portion of some of the sales are sent to the Middle East to benefit terrorist organizations."
Long before al Qaeda was suspected of converting cash into easily transportable commodities like diamonds, Hezbollah learned to raise significant funds by dealing in so-called 'conflict diamonds' in Sierra Leone, Liberia , and Congo.

In a decision hailed as a victory for free speech, a federal judge ordered San Francisco State University and the California State University system to stop enforcing speech codes used to prosecute students for the "desecration" of flags used by terrorist groups.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Wayne Brazil issued a preliminary injunction to bar the schools from enforcing several policies challenged in a lawsuit. One required students to act in accordance with SFSU "goals, principles, and policies" and another, a CSU system-wide policy, called for students "to be civil to one another."
"This decision is a vital step in the fight against unconstitutional campus speech codes," said Greg Lukianoff, president of the non-profit advocacy group Foundation for Individual Rights in Education, or FIRE. "The court's decision frees hundreds of thousands of students throughout the CSU system from unlawful restrictions on their expression."

The judge, who described himself at the hearing as a "friend of the First Amendment," also limited the CSU system's ability to enforce a policy prohibiting "intimidation" and "harassment," holding that the policy could only be applied to conduct that "reasonably is concluded to threaten or endanger the health or safety of any other person."
The Arizona-based Alliance Defense Fund defended the SFSU College Republicans and two of the group's members in cooperation with FIRE.
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 9 (UPI) -- The Los Angeles Police Department announced a mapping program used by its anti-terrorism bureau to identity likely terrorist breeding grounds in Muslim areas.
Michael P. Downing, a deputy Los Angeles police chief, detailed a joint program with the University of Southern California to compile mapping data demarcating Muslim areas deemed "at-risk communities," the Los Angeles Times reported Friday.
"We are looking for communities and enclaves based on risk factors that are likely to become isolated," Downing said.
Civil liberties and Muslim groups decried the project saying it is "nothing short of racial profiling."
"When the starting point for a police investigation is 'let's look at all Muslims,' we are going down a dangerous road," said Peter Bibring, a lawyer with the ACLU of Southern California, in an interview with The New York Times.
Hussam Ayloush, the head of the Council on American-Islamic Relations in Los Angeles, said the project "turns the LAPD officers into religious political analysts, while their role is to fight crime and enforce the laws."
Downing said the Muslim Public Affairs Council accepted the program "in concept."
"We will work with the LAPD and give them input, while at the same time making sure that people's civil liberties are protected," Salam Al-Marayati, the group's director, said in the Los Angeles Times.

An airport worker who wrote poems about beheadings is the first woman to be found guilty under new terror laws.
Samina Malik, who liked to call herself a "lyrical terrorist", called for attacks on the West and described "poisoned bullets" capable of killing an entire street in her poetry.
The 23-year-old Muslim wrote of her desire to become a martyr and listed her favourite videos as the "beheading ones".
Jonathan Sharp, prosecuting, told the court the defendant liked to be known as the "lyrical terrorist" or "a stranger awaiting martyrdom".
"She is a committed Islamic extremist, who supports terrorism and terrorists.
"She had a library of material that she had collected for terrorist purposes.
"That collection would be extremely useful for someone planning terrorist activity."
The court heard how police raided her home in Southall, West London, after an email from her was found on the computer of a terror suspect in October last year.
She had a profile on the social networking website Hi-5, where she called for the execution of "depraved" Westerners .
The British-born Muslim listed her interests as helping the Mujahideen "in any way I can".
She also wrote of how she enjoyed video messages from Osama Bin Laden and "videos that showed massacres of the kuffars", or non-Muslims.
In one poem, called The Living Martyrs, she called for Muslims to rise up against the infidels.
In another, How To Behead, she warned that the victim should be bound and blindfolded.
Malik, who worked as a shop assistant airside in a branch of WHSmith at the airport, also owned an Al Qaeda encyclopaedia of Jihad, a Mujahideen poison handbook and a 'terrorist handbook' which explained how to make bombs.
On the hard drive of her computer police found a copy of a sniper rifle manual, a firearms manual, anti-tank weaponry, a document entitled How To Win Hand To Hand Fighting, and pictures of weapons.
Outside the court, Deputy Assistant Commissioner Peter Clarke, head of the Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command, said: "Malik held violent extremist views which she shared with other like-minded people over the internet.
"She also tried to donate money to a terrorist group. She had the ideology, ability and determination to access and download material which could have been useful to terrorists.
"Merely possessing this material is a serious criminal offence."
A LEADING authority within Saudi Arabia's hardline form of Islam has condemned camel beauty contests as evil, saying those involved should seek repentance.
Camel pageants have become major events in the desert kingdom.
"Everyone must repent of these acts from which no good can come because of its evils, and they should beg forgiveness from God," said a fatwa, or religious ruling, issued by Sheikh Abdul-Rahman al-Barrak and a lesser-known sheikh.
A hair salon owner is being sued for religious discrimination after refusing a Muslim teenager a job as a stylist because she wore a headscarf.
Sarah Desrosiers said she refused 19-year-old Bushra Noah the position because it was an "absolutely basic" requirement that customers could see their stylist's hair.
The 32-year-old, whose "alternative" salon in London specialises in "urban, funky punky" cuts, has already spent £1,000 fighting the case.
Miss Noah wants £15,000 for injury to her feelings plus an unspecified amount for lost earnings.
She maintains that her headscarf is an integral part of her religious beliefs.
Miss Desrosiers, who denies any discrimination, said: "The essence of my line of work is the display of hair.
"To me, it's absolutely basic that people should be able to see the stylist's hair.
"It has nothing to do with religion. It is just unfortunate that for her covering her hair symbolises religion."
She added: "I now feel like I have been branded a racist.
"My accountant is Muslim. I have never discriminated against Muslims. My name is being dragged through the mud and I feel victimised.
"This girl is suing me for more than I earn in a year. I am a small business and have only had my salon a year and a half."
Miss Noah, who is an experienced stylist but has been rejected for 25 jobs, was invited to the salon for a trial day in March after sending Miss Desrosiers her CV.

A suicide bomber killed 50 Afghans, including six MPs and several children yesterday in one of the bloodiest incidents since the fall of the Taliban in 2001.
Death tolls varied widely in the aftermath of the attack in Baghlan, 90 miles north of Kabul, when a bomber set off explosives he was wearing in the heart of a crowd gathered to welcome a parliamentary delegation to a sugar factory.
An interior ministry spokesman said 28 people had died and 59 were injured. But the provincial security chief said 50 bodies had been counted, and warned that the figure could rise further.
"There are still bodies on the streets that we have not counted, and some have already been taken away by relatives," Abdurrahman Sayedkhail told Reuters.

Milan - Police in Italy Tuesday arrested 11 suspects in dawn raids targeting an alleged international Islamist cell involved in recruiting terrorist insurgents to fight in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Italian prosecutors issued a total of 20 arrest warrants as part of the operation, including nine aimed at suspects believed to be in other European countries including Britain, Portugal and France.
Portuguese police sources said one suspect was arrested in Portugal, but would not provide additional details.
Those detained in Italy - most of them Tunisians - included the cell's alleged ringleader, Mehdi Ben Nasr, 31, a labourer who was picked up at his home in the north-eastern city of Reggio Emilia.
Also in Reggio Emilia police arrested another Tunisian, identified as Chaouwki Belhaj Meftah, 24, who apparently about to travel on a suicide bombing mission in Afghanistan.
Two other Tunisians were stopped in the nearby towns of Cavriago and Novellara, while four suspects were apprehended in Milan, one in Bergamo, one in Imperia and one in the southern region of Calabria.
Police also said they seized several documents including false identification papers in the raids which were based on a probe first launched in 2003, officials said.

The official, from an allied intelligence agency, confirmed the fears raised on Monday by Jonathan Evans, the head of MI5, who spoke of al-Qaeda recruiting teenagers as young as 15 in the United Kingdom.
The official, speaking in London, described this latest type of terrorist as the most difficult one for security services to counter.
He said that these were young people who were driven by “emotional rather than ideological” inspiration. They did not have go to training camps or meet al-Qaeda organisers to begin plotting.
The official, with a career in counter-terrorism, said that this new breed of terrorist was not the most sophisticated and did not possess the most professional capabilities. Because of that, their plots were more likely to lead to “low-level attacks”, but they could still cause huge damage and kill innocent people.
He suggested that because their inspiration came from an emotional response to images that they may have seen on the internet of violence in Palestine or Iraq, peddled by al-Qaeda and other Islamic extremists, there was at least some hope that they would not end up as committed lifelong terrorists. The official said: “With kids getting their ideas from the internet, there’s no way that any security service can handle that without the help of the local communities. People have to raise their hand and say something about what’s going on, it has to come from the communities,” he said.
He believed that there had been three phases in the international terrorist threat, starting with the “core al-Qaeda members”, then expanding, with the creation of “affiliates”, groups inspired by al-Qaeda’s violence ideology to copy their actions; and finally what he called the “like-mind-ers” � young people who spent their time on the internet and decided amongst themselves to plot an attack.

Two suspected jihadi recruiters were arrested in dawn raids yesterday over their alleged involvement in a Europe-wide network enlisting young men to fight in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Ali Ben Zidane Chehidi, 34, and Mohamed Salah Ben Hamadi Khemiri, 53, both Tunisians, were detained at their homes in London and Manchester. The swoop was part of a coordinated operation led by Italian antiterrorist police aimed at breaking up a sophisticated recruitment organisation. Some 20 suspects, mostly of North African origin, were picked up in further raids in Italy, France and Portugal.
Mr Chehidi was arrested in Purley, South London, by officers from Scotland Yard’s extradition unit assisted by Counter Terrorism Command. Another team from the extradition squad, backed up by antiterrorist officers from Greater Manchester Police, detained Mr Khemiri in the Cheetham Hill area of Manchester.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “The two men were arrested on behalf of the Italian authorities under an extradition warrant in relation to allegations that between 2003 and 2005 they forged documents to facilitate the illegal entry into Italy of recruited volunteers to fight jihad in Iraq and Afganistan.” The two men face proceedings to extradite them to Italy, where the authorities said the raids were the culmination of a four-year investigation.

The Democrat senator over the past seven months has received $1,000 from M. Yaqub Mirza and another $500 from M. Omar Ashraf, federal campaign records show. Federal agents raided the Virginia homes and offices of the Muslim donors after 9/11 for ties to terrorism.
Others tied to the still-active probe also have contributed money to Clinton, including one Muslim man who after 9/11 complained the U.S. government should focus on changing its Mideast policies instead of killing Osama bin Laden and other Islamic terrorists.
Mirza, who also has given to other candidates, including Republicans, is said to act on behalf of Saudi millionaire Yassin al-Qadi, who the U.S. Treasury Department in October 2001 blacklisted as an al-Qaida financier.

More recently, Wachovia Bank closed the accounts of a shadowy Muslim charity supported by Mirza after an entity controlled by the Pakistani immigrant donated $150,000 to the charitable front, known as FAITH. The bank in 2005 cited suspicious activity in its accounts related to possible money laundering.
Evidently the folks at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) are not paying attention to those whom they are allowing to affiliate with their organization. According to the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), an umbrella group for South Asian-oriented mosques and Islamic centers throughout the United States and Canada, its subsidiary “ICNA Relief USA” has been recognized by FEMA for its Hurricane Katrina relief. Considering ICNA Relief’s recent association with the financing of Hamas abroad, FEMA, a division of Homeland Security, may want to review its policy concerning certain organizations it lets participate in its programs.
Through FEMA’s Public Assistance Grant Program, aid is provided to “certain Non-Profit organizations to alleviate suffering and hardship resulting from major disasters or emergencies declared by the President.” However, if an organization that is being provided this assistance is also helping to finance an overseas terrorist organization, then any “suffering and hardship” that is “alleviated” – if any – would undoubtedly be canceled out by the agony created by the terrorist acts.
While ICNA Relief has the benefit of being a “tax exempt” organization within the U.S., the group, at the same time, engages with a foreign entity that finances Hamas. In August of 2006, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), the Muslim Brotherhood of Pakistan, announced on its website that its charity, the Al-Khidmat Foundation (AKF), had given six million rupees – the equivalent of $99,000 – to the head of Hamas, Khaled Mashaal. In turn, Mashaal, who resides in Damascus, Syria, thanked the group for the money and said that it would be used by Hamas to further terrorist attacks against Israelis.
At the time of the transaction, ICNA Relief USA was the top donor to AKF, and according to AKF’s website, that is still the case. This certainly creates a conflict of interest with regard to ICNA’s association with FEMA. On the one hand, the group claims to be aiding those in need. On the other, the group is helping to destroy people’s lives.
On October 25th, ICNA announced its involvement in relief efforts concerning the wildfires of Southern California. Stated on the group’s site was/is the following: “ICNA’s Southern California chapter has partnered with several local organizations to provide shelter, evacuation help and immediate relief and long term help for those in need.” According to the site, an entity titled “ICNA Relief USA’s Wildfires Disaster Response” was created for this purpose, and ICNA is currently asking for donations for it. The site further states that ICNA Southern California is appealing to the Muslim Community “to join the special congregational prayer for relief from the fire and for rain to end the drought.” The prayers will be held at the Islamic Society of Orange County (ISOC), the place where Al-Qaeda spokesman Adam Gadahn became a Muslim and where the spiritual leader of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, Omar Abdel Rahman, had been an invited guest lecturer.
The press contact for ICNA’s wildfire work is the group’s Secretary General Naeem Baig, who claimed in July of this year that ICNA has “no relations – no links – to any organization or any country outside the United States.” This, of course, is a denial of reality, as Baig’s statement completely disregards ICNA’s relationship with JI, AKF, Hamas, and even ICNA’s own charity, Helping Hand, which has an office in Islamabad, Pakistan.
It is the contradictions of ICNA that do harm to the group’s claims, which at face value seem commendable. As stated on its website, “ICNA Relief USA is committed to offering services and assistance to those struck by disaster within the United States. Partnering with Red Cross, FEMA, and other leading disaster relief agencies, ICNA Relief USA is becoming one of the forefront Islamic relief agencies within the United States.”
RIYADH, Nov 5 (Reuters) - Saudi Arabia amputated the hand of a thief on Monday, carrying out a rarely implemented Islamic punishment amid warnings in the media of a rise in crime in the conservative kingdom.
The right hand of Amr Nasr, an Egyptian man, was removed in Mecca after he was found guilty of pick-pocketing inside the Grand Mosque compound, the official Saudi Press Agency.
Saudi Arabia, the birthplace of Islam, applies a literal reading of Islamic law, and regularly beheads those convicted of murder, rape, drugs smuggling and armed robbery.
A spokesman for New York-based Human Rights Watch said the Islamic punishment of hand amputation for theft is rarely implemented and this would be the first case in years.
Petty theft at the mosque in Mecca, which throngs with thousands of visiting pilgrims all year round, is common and pilgrims often lose sandals left at entrances to the site, Islam's holiest shrine.
Saudi media has talked of fears of an increase in organised crime by expatriates who make up around one third of the 24-million-strong population and analysts say clerics of Saudi Arabia's Wahhabi Islam fear losing their grip on society.
Five Saudis were beheaded last week for the murder and sexual abuse of a boy, and the total number of executions this year has more than tripled 2006's total of 38 at over 120.

SENATE hopeful Pauline Hanson has accused the Federal Government of opening up the immigration floodgates to people "who have no intention of being Australian".
Ms Hanson, who is running in the federal election under the banner of Pauline's United Australia Party, was campaigning on similar policies to those that won her international notoriety a decade ago, including calling for a moratorium on Muslim immigration.
Campaigning in NSW, the right-wing firebrand told website www.federalelection.com.au she was worried about the loss of Australian values, particularly as a result of Muslim immigration.
"I've seen the destruction of our industry, manufacturing, our farmers, everything that is Aussie and to be proud of ... that's been lost," she said.
"They've just opened up the floodgates to allow people here that have no intention of being Australian or being proud Australians.
"I've actually now called for a moratorium on Muslim immigration because I believe it's not for reasons of religious or any other reason.
"But I think it is a cultural difference to us as Australians and we must protect our own culture."
Ms Hanson, who co-founded the One Nation party, listed "Australian values" as the nation's culture, way of life and standard of living.
She said if she held the balance of power in the Senate she would be willing to block legislation she did not agree with.
"If it is not in the best interests of our country and the Australian people, yes I would," she said.
"I wouldn't do deals and sell myself out or the people out for that.
"I would fight to make the politicians accountable to us and that's what they haven't done and that's why I'm standing again and that's why people are getting behind me in the support.
"They don't believe that there is true representation."
Ms Hanson's vote will be bolstered by the fact she has registered a party.
When Ms Hanson ran for the Senate in 2004 she appeared under the line as an individual candidate - a position which historically attracts fewer votes.

RIYADH, 4 October 2007 — Saudi Arabia’s Human Rights Commission (HRC) will urge its counterparts in the European Union to ask their governments not to link terrorism to Islam and also to issue regulations to protect Muslims from prejudice and discrimination because of their faith.
According to a source at HRC, the government-funded rights body will also address various human rights issues in Europe: when Muslims are unjustly interrogated, treated with disrespect, physically or mentally abused, or not allowed to practice their faith freely such as Muslim girls being prevented from wearing the hijab (head cover) in some schools.
The points are expected to be addressed during HRC’s official participation in the Second Arab-European Dialogue on Human Rights and Terrorism, which will take place in Copenhagen on Oct.21-23. “The dialogue is significant because it is being held in Denmark, where the controversy started over the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) cartoons,” the source told Arab News.
HRC President Turki Al-Sudairi has assigned two HRC officials, Khaled Al-Obeid and Ali Al-Mustaneer, to represent the organization in the dialogue.
“HRC’s participation in the dialogue is part of its role to communicate and discuss with regional and international rights bodies matters that concern the rights of humans against discrimination on the grounds of race, religion, or sex,” the HRC said in an official statement.
Among topics up for discussion are “Islamaphobia” and the fear Europeans have of Muslims or Islam as a religion. People’s general attitudes toward Muslims will also be on the agenda. Another topic the rights body is expected to address is the history of Islam in Europe, specifically in Spain where Muslims contributed to the prosperity of humanity at a time when most of Europe was struggling through the Dark Ages.
According to HRC, this second dialogue is expected to come up with several recommendations similar to the first dialogue held in Amman on April 18 and 19 this year. The Amman conference concluded by backing the international bill of rights and other human rights instruments, emphasizing that states are obliged to ensure that anti-terrorist measures comply with human rights standards, and stressing the importance of national human rights agencies in advising governments and monitoring anti-terrorist legislation.
The delegates also urged governments, politicians and the media not to resort to discriminatory ethnic stereotypes in their battle against terrorism. In addition, the delegates recommended the establishment of an Arab-Euro working group, consisting of representatives from two Arab and two European human rights organizations.
These working groups would be able to enter into dialogue with governments and politicians as well as engage with professionals employed in the police force, intelligence services, the courts, civil society and the media.
TEHRAN, Iran — Thousands of Iranians nationwide demonstrated Sunday to celebrate the 28th anniversary of the takeover of the U.S. Embassy by militant students, state television reported.
Demonstrators in the capital, Tehran, including elementary school students, gathered outside the former U.S. Embassy, chanting anti-U.S. and anti-Israeli slogans. They burned the two countries' flags and warned Washington to learn from the hostile incident.
The takeover, which occurred during Iran's 1979 Islamic revolution, severely damaged relations between the two countries. The 52 Americans who were held hostage during the crisis were returned after 444 days, but the U.S. cut off diplomatic ties with Iran to protest the incident.
State television showed video footage of the takeover Sunday and images of the Americans who had been held hostage.
Current relations between the two countries continue to be incredibly tense, with the U.S. accusing Iran of covertly developing nuclear weapons and supporting Shiite militias in Iraq — charges Tehran denies.
"The U.S. has designed a triangle of military, cultural and economic threats against the Iranian nation," Mostafa Pourmohammadi, Iran's interior minister, said during Sunday's demonstration, which happens every year on Nov. 4.

One opposition politician has already said that Musharraf should face death for suspending the constitution. Aitzaz Ahsan President Supreme Court Bar Association was arrested and said the Musharraf would not remain in power 30 more days. Former Primer Minister Benazir Bhutto is opposed to Musharrafs actions. Islamist leaders are calling for an uprising to throw Musharraf out of office. Telephone lines are down as well as most media outlets. Musharraf is also saying the elections scheduled for January maybe delayed. Today 10 militants seized a police post. All were eventually taken down by the military. Mursharraf even has compared himself to Abraham Lincoln in all this. Rice said the US will review its aid to Pakistan after the state of emergency. This is something that should have been done a very long time ago.
The US warned Musharraf not to declare a state of emergency. White White House National Security Council spokesman Gordon Johndroe said that Musharraf should step down as chief of army staff.
John Mccain had this to say "Americans should value President Musharraf's friendship and Pakistan's help in the war on terror, but this cannot sway us from our concern for Pakistani democracy."

I really really dont understand if a simple guy like myself can find all these terrorist websites why in the world isnt the FBI doing anything about them?!?!
