Iran Calls For Muslims To Unite Against Foreign Forces In Iraq

The Chairman of Iran's Expediency Council has underlined that Iraq can counter hegemonic purposes of foreign forces via unity in the country.

"Unity among ethnic groups, religions, and political parties in Iraq is the most important strategy to confront hegemonic ends of foreign forces," Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, who is also the Chairman of the Assembly of Experts, maintained.

An opportunity is created for Iraqi people to rule their own country and exercise self-determination, the influential cleric said in a meeting with the Chairman of Iraq's Fadila Party, Hassan Al-Shammari.

"Some big powers are trying to impede the formation of a real Islam-based democracy in Iraq," said Hashemi Rafsanjani.

The prominent member of Iraq's Fadila Party said that cooperation among all popular political parties is important.

Some powers are trying to sow seeds of schism in Iraq to hamper its people from running the country, he concluded.
