Apparently Julio Pino also goes by Assad Pino. A google search of the name Assad Pino brings up some more goods...

He wrote this letter showing his support for Ward Churchill. Here are a few excerpts from the letter:

"Middle Eastern Studies programs across the country are under federal scrutiny to ensure no unpatriotic — meaning anti-Israel — views are expressed in academia. U.S. colleges have barred thousands of applicants from the Arab world, and Professor Daniel Pipes maintains his “Campus Watch” online dossier, encouraging students to snitch on instructors who refuse to toe the party line: “How much do you love the American empire?” (No, I am not on Daniel’s list, but I have made the Anti-Defamation League’s roll of honor. Thank you, ADL President Abraham Foxman.)"

"Those who claim to be horrified by Churchill’s remarks should ponder that more than 500,000 Iraqi children were killed by President William Clinton and his Madame Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, who boasted about it on national television. Back in April 2000 Pino wrote this. I noticed the title of this page was "Marxism mailing list". Here is an excerpt from this letter he wrote:

"the students at Kent State were killed for exercising their
constitutional rights of free speech and assembly.The government targetted
them, literally, for protesting a savage war abroad and racism at home. No
trials, no appeals. This is the connecting issue Mumia will no doubt
address when he speaks to us, from death row, on May 4, 2000."

"Mummia Abu-Jamal is a most appropriate choice to speak at this year's
May 4 conmmemoration, because he and the four martyred students both
symbolize how this system deals with political dissent.
Mumia was at one time the Minister of Information of the Black Panther

extermination by the federal government through the FBI's COINTELPRO
program."

Pino also had this to say about President Bush on an anti-war website:

"President Bush has made it clear that this war against Iraq will not only be a map-making venture but a crusade against Islam, said Pino, associate history professor."

I was just informed that the author of the blog that claimed Pino was working for the FBI was just trying to get under his skin. He says he knows the blogger that wrote this and he writes fake news. The validity of this claim I am not sure.

I emailed the administration of Kent State this morning to see if they can shed some light on this situation... DEVELOPING..

Kent State University has issued s public statement about Pino here. Here is what they said: "We have no evidence that this Web site is authored by Pino. There is no connection between this site and the university."
To me that says absolutely nothing other than they are saying they don't know anything about this. The question I have is has the University even ask Pino about the things I have pointed out here? They also said there is no connection between the university and the site that is claimed to be Pinos blog. Thats not the question. The question is does Pino run the blog? Do all of the letters and articles that I have documented above indeed belong to Julio Pino of Kent State? Those are the questions that I and many others would like to know the answers to. If this blog does not belong to Pinto why doesn't he go public and say it is not him? I know if someone was trying to act like they were me online and were posting terrorist things I would go public immediately. I would make it clear to the world that this blog was not me. Why doesn't Pino do that? I really hope someone anyone in the media will look into this further. I hope that maybe someone can get him on the Radio or television to comment on the things I have outlined above. I would really like to know if these things are him. I think it is clear that many of them are him. Especially the article he wrote sympathizing with a suicide bomber. I urge all of you please contact anyone you know in the media to get them on this story. Anyone from Glenn Beck to your local media sources on the radio. Pino needs to be asked about these things there is no way around it.

Here is another email that Julio sent on the "Marxism Mailing List" here from 2000. Here is what he said:

Here is one paragraph I want to point out:
"More disheartening, however, is Pino's behavior in the classroom. In his intro-level history class, Pino called on one of his Jewish students to give one of the class lectures on Judaism and Zionism. Taken aback by his request, the student nevertheless complied keeping in mind that her grade may have been at stake. Unexpectedly, Mr. Pino also invited a guest speaker to follow the young student's discussion on her religion. She was no match, however for the speaker, an expert in political science, Islam, and the conflict in the Middle East. All of this would seem harmless enough were it a private university where students know what they are getting themselves into when they choose to attend. At a state university, though, it is hard to know if your professor is going to single you out based on your religion in a required general history class. Not many Israeli professors in American universities are using their classrooms in state-funded universities as open forums for voicing their own political views. If they are, it is likely to argue for divestment from Israel."

Catie has left a comment telling me that she has been trying to draw peoples attention to this for sometime over at her blog but no one is paying attention and she doesnt know why. I agree fully. This story Kent State says ""The opinions on the Web site ("Global War") do not represent the university," the statement said. "We do not speak for Pino nor defend any views he might have, and he does not speak for Kent State, his department or other faculty."
In other words they dont really have any idea weather the blog is really run by Pino or not. They also make it clear they do not defend the views of Pino. hmmm..

A poster over at LGF linked to this from a Cleveland media source. The title is this "URGENT WARNING TO MUJAHIDEEN: AVOID JULIO PINO" It seems to be an article that warns Muslims to stay away from Pinos blog because he is working undercover for the FBI. RIGHT! Here at my blog we have already proved that he is not working for the FBI. As you can see from the date on the article it was posted yesterday when all of this started coming out about Pino.

OReilly brought up alot of good points about Pino but he never brought anything up about his blog or the fact that he is admitting publicly now that he contributed to the jihadist blog.

Several days later (though I hadn't identified myself anywhere in the post) I received AT MY OFFICE a letter from Dr. Pino, with a picture of some asshole jihadist with the typical mask and AK. According to the FBI, Dr. Pino knows that doing this won't trigger any of its direct threat guidelines.

He also knows it is within the bounds of the First Amendment; even though the message and the manner of its delivery were clearly intended to be threatening.

LGF had a second update on this story today. They linked to this story. In this story Pino was quoted as saying "I am not the issue" and "The issue is free speech."
So in other words Pino believes the fact that he praises a suicide bomber and takes part in a jihadist blog is not an issue? He believes it is his right to free speech to praise Bin Laden? How ridiculous. Does he really think people should over look all these things?

Heres another blogger that has more information on Pino. He has this email that was said to have been sent by Pino where he wrote a poem about 9/11. I am not sure of the authenticity of this claim yet. But here is the poem clainmed to be written by Pino.

I found this article published today about the situation with Pino. Apparently Timothy Smith of the journalism department at Kent State believes that this is an issue of free speech and that Pino has the right to support terrorist and suicide bombers. Here is what Smith said in this article:
"Professors have an enormous amount of freedom when it comes to academic in terms of presenting information," Smith said. "People have a right to take opposition against the best interests of the U.S. government."
As I posted on the page of this article its one thing to be against the war its another to cheer for the terrorist.
I have contacted Tim Smith with the information that I have about Pino and encouraged him to look at it. You may also contact him here

I also found this very interesting from the article:
"Donald Ackerman is working a double major in history and political science at KSU. He is also in the university's Army ROTC program.

Last spring, Ackerman walked into one of Pino's history classes wearing his Army fatigues. Ackerman said Pino commented on his attire.

"He said, 'I don't know why they put you people in my class. It's not for compatibility's sake,'" Ackerman said. Ackerman walked out of Pino's History of Civilization II course this week when he said Pino refused to tell Ackerman if he had any affiliation with the Global War site."

2. There is no evidence to suggest that Julio Pino has been engaged in pro-terrorist activity using Kent State resources.

Actually there is plenty. I have received hard evidence that Pino’s Kent State email address (jpino@kent.edu) has been used to disseminate his pro-Jihadist views. I also have evidence that Kent State equipment has been used in the activity. Because there is some possibility that the evidence has been tampered with I made arrangements – only about four hours ago - with FBI agents who will confiscate all evidence from my hard drive in order to make that determination. I’m Sorry Julio but I just had to get the counter-terrorism unit involved.

But, for the record, I do recognize that there may be some vast right-wing conspiracy to frame Pino for using Kent State resources in disseminating his pro-Jihadist writings. (Someone sent me a blue burqua with a white stain but I’m not touching that one).

UPDATE: 11/30/07
Apparently Pino took a trip to the Middle East on Kent State funds. It was not properly approved by the school and the head of the history department was fired. Read more about this here

According to this story Pino visited the city of Al Ain which is a city in the UAE.

Pino, an associate professor of history, asked permission for leave KSU to attend a six-week program on Arabic language and culture in the city of Al Ain...

According to this story Pino admitted he was posting to the terrorist blog but said he no longer does.
